Eclipse Global Consult Conducts Endline Evaluation of Nutrition Smart Community Project in Pujehun and Port Loko Districts

Eclipse Global Consult has successfully completed an endline evaluation survey of the “Transforming LANN+ to Nutrition Smart CommUnity (NSC)” project in Pujehun and Port Loko Districts, Sierra Leone. The project, funded by Irish Aid and implemented by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Concern Worldwide, aims to improve household food and nutrition security among vulnerable communities.

The evaluation assessed the project’s achievements, impact, sustainability, and lessons learned over the implementation period from November 2021 to December 2024. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combined household surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, nutrition screenings, observations, and desk reviews to gather comprehensive evidence from project beneficiaries and stakeholders.

The survey covered communities across Barri and Makpele Chiefdoms in Pujehun District and Lokomasama and Kamasondo Chiefdoms in Port Loko District. Particular attention was given to food security, dietary diversity, maternal and child nutrition, climate-smart agriculture practices, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and community resilience.

The findings will provide valuable insights into the project’s effectiveness and contribute to evidence-based recommendations for future nutrition programming, policy development, and the scaling up of successful community-based approaches to improve nutrition and food security across Sierra Leone.
